“Without putting too fine a point on it, Kristen has been a God-send to us. There are so many ways in which she’s had a positive impact on our son’s development. And what makes these outcomes SO remarkable is that our son is not a wallflower. He is strong willed and would fight Kristen whenever he could, complaining that he didn’t need to do something she asked, or just wouldn’t listen. But Kristen, always strong and flexible, managed (and continues to manage) his obstreperousness with compassion, because she truly understands him as a kid who learns differently. She has never run out of new ideas that would successfully reach and teach him and further supports him by checking in on him on her own time to see how a project he is working on, is going.
And if it wasn’t amazing enough to watch as our son grew from a bright student who didn’t know where and how to begin and end a project to an independent and critically thinking young man, it was even more wonderful and gratifying to see how happy he was, when after his first year in college, he made the Dean’s List. Remarkable.

Before Kristen (and there were several academic coaches before) we all struggled because of our son’s dissatisfaction with how school was going for him. So much tension and frustration around our less than successful efforts to help him, feeling powerless, knowing that the school (a strong one with a great reputation) was not willing to see or invest in our son because he was “doing well on tests.” But with Kristen, we never felt alone or isolated.
